WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO OPEN MY POOL?
Open your pool early, before the weather gets hot. By starting your chemical additions and filtration system before the water has a chance to warm up, the algae & bacteria will not have as great a chance of multiplying. This will make your start up less costly and time consuming.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO CLOSE MY POOL?
Close your pool late, after the weather gets cool. The water does not grow bacteria and algae as rapidly when it is colder, so by closing late, your pool will be in better condition to make your spring opening go much easier.

HOW LONG SHOULD I RUN MY POOL PUMP EACH DAY?
We recommend that you run your pool pump 10-12 hours a day. If you are experiencing any water quality problems, run your pump 24 hours a day until the water quality returns.

SHOULD I RUN MY POOL PUMP DURING THE DAY OR NIGHT?
Running the pump when the pool is in use helps the overall filtration of the pool because of the swimmers churning the water. If the pool is not being used frequently, run the pump during the day. This will help the pool water chemistry and clarity by replacing the chemicals that the sun draws from the pool during the day.

DO THE BUBBLES ON MY SOLAR COVER GO UP OR DOWN?
Bubbles down.

HOW SHOULD I ADD GRANULAR CHLORINE TO MY VINYL LINED POOL?
You should dissolve the granular chlorine in a bucket of water before adding it to your pool. Otherwise, the granules can bleach the liner. Pour the solution directly into the pool water, not into the pool skimmer.

THE VINYL LINER HAS SLIPPED OUT OF THE TRACK. HOW DO I FIX IT?
The easiest time to fix this is after the winter cover has been removed and before the pool has been refilled. Apply hot water from a kettle to the portion of the liner that has slipped from the track. This will make the liner pliable. Stretch the liner back up and hook the bead of the liner onto the track. Liner lock can be inserted into the track to keep the liner from slipping back out. Large areas may require the assistance of a professional

HOW DO I KNOW IF THE WATER LOSS FROM MY POOL IS FROM EVAPORATION OR A LEAK?
Under normal circumstances during the swimming season, your pool water level will drop about 1/4 inch per day (more when the days are warm and nights are cool) due to evaporation, splash out, and back washing your filter. The use of a solar blanket will help reduce evaporation. To a test for a leak: Using a pail, draw a line about 1" from the top with an permanent marker. Fill the bucket to the line with water and set the bucket in the pool on the top step. Accurately mark the pool water level (put a piece of black tape on the leg of your pool ladder). If the water loss from the pool is greater than the water loss from the bucket, then your pool is leaking.

IS IT SAFE FOR ME TO DRAIN MY POOL?
NO! You should never drain your pool. This is a job for a licensed experienced professional. Concrete & fiberglass pools can float out of the ground like a huge boat. The liners in vinyl pools will shrink, potentially causing irreversible damage.
